Working on rugs

For those who prefer to work on jute or some other form of single mesh canvas, that material should, of course, be used for a preliminary sampler.

Double mesh canvas is, however, strongly advised for a beginner and this type of canvas will be assumed hereafter except where single mesh canvas (jute, etc.) is specifically mentioned.

Although the instructions which follow relate to a full-sized rug, they apply equally to the preliminary sampler except where the context obviously precludes this.
